Youth Employment Scheme

If you are unemployed and between the ages of 18 and 24 years old, through Roe Valley Community Education Forum, the Youth Employment Scheme (YES) can help you develop the skills and gain the experience you need to get a job.

Skills Development Programme Option
Under the Skills Development Programme you will get longer (up to 26 weeks) work placement opportunities during which you will carry out a range of tasks or duties similar to an employee, but with the emphasis on job specific skills training. The programme focuses on skills training, giving you the opportunity to achieve additional or build on existing qualifications. You will receive a Training Allowance equivalent to your benefit entitlement, plus a premium of £45 per week, for the duration of the 26 week programme. In addition, travel costs in excess of £4 per week will be reimbursed. You will also get the opportunity to achieve a further qualification – at no cost to you. Roe Valley Community Education Forum delivers a number of courses including:
• NVQ Level 2 & 3 Customer Services
• NVQ Level 2 & 3 Business Admin
• NVQ Level 2 & 3 IT

If these courses are not suitable for you, Roe Valley Community Education Forum works with other training providers in Limavady - to match a course with your skill needs in your placement.

How to get on the Youth Employment Scheme
Speak to an Employment Service Adviser in your local Jobs and Benefits Office to discuss what skills you need to develop. They can help you develop job search skills, CV building and interview techniques. They can also help you identify suitable opportunities under the Youth Employment Scheme which will improve your chances of getting a job. Alternatively, call our Client Support Officers at Roe Valley Community Education Forum on 777 69469 or drop into our offices for an informal chat.

The support I've received has been great.

I don't know what I would have done without Roe Valley.

Learning with them has been great.
